This lovely shade plant sports graceful arching stems with bright variegated green and white foliage. In spring, the small white flowers dangle beneath the stems and ultimately mature to a dark black fruit in late summer. The foliage turns a beautiful yellow in the autumn. Perfect for woodlands, naturalized areas and shade gardens.
The second release in this series, 'Vision in Pink' is a vigorous grower, and is tolerant of drought once established. The blooms are thick, upright and a pale pink in late spring/early summer. The foliage is an attractive blue-green. Part shade is best.
This addition to the Vision series line sports pink-red flowers that open from purple buds over glossy bronze-green foliage that looks good all season long. This one is shorter and blooms a bit later than 'Vision in Pink'. Best grown in partial shade and evenly moist soils.
The latest addition to the Vision series of astilbe, 'Vision in White' has plumes of pure white flowers rising above foliage that is dark green with a hint or two of bronze. Flowering in July, it will reach a height of 18" in bloom. Best grown in part shade sites, with a steady supply of moisture.
Visions blooms in midsummer with large, plumy-raspberry pink flowers that really stand out from the foliage. It is slightly larger in stature than Astilbe chinensis 'Pumila', reaching a height of 15". Astilbes grow best in evenly moist soil.
The beautiful green-grey foliage really sets off the lavender-blue flowers of this catmint. Blooms almost all season long, average garden soils. Will benefit from some light shearing after the first flush of flowers in early summer. Perennial Plant of the Year in 2007.
Maple-like shaped foliage. Blooms with a spiky white inflorescence. Needs partial shade and does best in a woodland setting with cool, moist organic soil - great in a bed with hosta, ferns, etc. Forms a single clump.
A beautiful hosta, best used as a specimen plant. The leaves have blue-green centers and very wide irregular margins of cream to gold tones, beautiful texture and substantive. Blooms heavily in summer with pale lavender flowers. A real stand out in the shade garden. It is slow-growing so be patient, it is well worth the wait.
From a beautiful fall-blooming series of aster cultivars with highly mildew resistant foliage and great dwarf stature. Excellent for containers as well as the front of the perennial border. Single, clear medium blue flowers with gold centers appear in August and bloom through October. Asters are great for attracting butterflies to the garden. Well-drained soils are best.
Another winning cultivar, combining dwarf stature with mildew resistance. Dark purple flowers in August through October make this a great addition to the autumn perennial border. Asters are great for attracting butterflies to the garden. Full sun and well drained soils are best.
Forming a very wide, arching clump, 'Zebrinus' is distinguished by showy cream colored horizontal bands along the leaves. In climates where there is a long, hot growing season, it produces a lovely flower in autumn. Flowers are a pinkish copper plume which mature to fluffy tan seed heads, standing out in the winter landscape.
