A plant introduced from the Mt. Cuba Center for the Study of Piedmont Flora, in Delaware. This plant has a more dwarf habit and chocolate-purple tones to the leaves and stems. Blooms in late summer with white flowers which can be used for cutting, although this Joe-Pye should be used almost exclusively for its colored foliage rather than blooms.

This is a great sunny, spring perennial, which is quite drought-tolerant and cold hardy. If happy, it will self-seed, so it can become a good groundcover plant. Great for borders, masses, large rock gardens or to combine with daffodils or other smaller bulbs.
